I made it home for my solo weekend! Between Case breaking his leg and everyone getting sick one right after the other I didn’t know if I would be able to travel until the night before. Getting to OKC was a nightmare and I had some serious doubts as to whether or not I should be coming home. First) One of my planes apparently broke while in air and we had to turn around and head back to the airport. Second) The next plane had a broken door. All I could think about was final destination and how I needed to get home but finally the airport found a functioning plane and I made it to Oklahoma. Third) Finding a working plane was great, however the extra flight was just too much for my already taxed system. I'd been up since 3am, hadn't eaten a proper meal in hours, my pension for motion sickness and the baby violently swimming back and forth in my stomach (he doesn’t like to fly) spelled disaster. I held out as long as I could. But when we hit turbulence on the decent I couldn’t hold it anymore and puked. The best part was my puke bag had a hole in it and I got puke on my jeans! You just can’t make up that kind of fun.
Once I finally made it to OKC the trip was wonderful but way too short (under 48 hours). We went to the Arts Festival and ate fried pickles, fried spinach, beef sliders, strawberry Newport and lemon blueberry crepes. YUM! I missed my facial because of flight problems, but was able to get my hair cut and colored for the first time in 6 months. I went shopping by myself and didn’t look at the clock and we had a birthday dinner for my dad. Its amazing how different an adult conversation can feel when you aren't thinking of a baby. Day 2 I watched a few friends cross the finish line at the OKC memorial marathon, was treated to a great pedi and cruised around the mall eating cheese fries before heading home that afternoon. All in all, the trip was great. I hope my next solo ‘me time trip’ comes sooner than later.

I'm so glad you had a good trip - once you actually got here, at least. I just love the finish line at the Memorial Marathon; it's so inspiring and fun. I hope you can grab another get-away soon!
I'm not sure about the broken plane or the broken door, but I am pretty sure a hole in the puke bag is actionable. I would consult a lawyer to recover some damages.
Lol! Final Destination huh? I try to never think about that movie while I'm on a plane. I would have a heart attack. I'm so glad you go to have some adult "me" time last weekend! I think you're going to need to schedule one of those every once in a while.
What I took from all this was, did you find out the sex of the baby and I didn't know about it? Or is "he" just a generic term? So sorry about the crazy flight situation but SO glad you finally made it and were able to have a great time!
Oh Holly! I'm so glad you are one of the most determined people I know and that you did not give up and went home for your much needed time solo! I also agree that this is a lesson that you need to go more often (minus the airplane disasters).
