This child is trying to kill me! I went to the Dr. again today and apparently this child is in the 95% percentile for weight?! What?! Now is no time for my grandfathers height to show up. I was really hoping for another 5lb baby. After all, I’m not that big myself.
Anyway, I will have another ultrasound in a couple weeks to make sure they didn’t calculate my due date wrong or to find out if I am carrying the world’s largest baby. Other possible culprits that could be affecting his weight are his irregular heartbeat, gestigational diabetes or a malfunctioning thyroid. So guess what….it’s back to the testing board for me. Let’s just hope I am full of fluid or they have calculated the date wrong. I can’t handle anything else being wrong or a giving birth to a ginormous baby.

My Timid Little Tyke
Case has always been an observer. Observe first, act second. He likes to think about things before jumping in head first and that has been very obvious the past week or so. First we tried out story hour at the library. I was jumping up and down, doing all the movements with the other kids trying to encourage him to participate and he just sat there looking at all of us kooky people like we were off our rockers. Afterwards all the kids headed to the book section and he told me to “go, go, go” and headed to the door. Today we went to a dancing water fountain. Dozens of kids were having a blast getting wet and running through the streams but Case kept a safe distance from those wild hooligans. I guess we will try again next week and see if he warms up to the idea after a visit or two.
Regarding his newest passions, Case LOVES to mow. He mows morning, noon and night, inside the house and outside. Case still has a passion for tools, screwdrivers and batteries. Plus he has developed a new interest which is in full swing, cars. He loves all things cars, trucks and motorcycles. That means we don’t go anywhere without a hot wheel in hand. And even though our little boy is small for his age he is 100% boy. Case will be one tough cookie before it’s all said and done. He loves to “go fast” and walks/runs at least 1 1/2 miles with me everyday around the neighborhood. As a result for his need for speed, this child has scabs on top of scabs. At any given day he has skinned knees, bloody elbows, a roughed up chin, at least ½ dozen bruises or all of the above combined. No matter how rough he looks or what interests he develops, I love our little boy and all that he is becoming.

Specialist Update

I went to the heart specialist last week and they think Capt Jack's irregular heart beat is something he will outgrow. We may have to go back around 32 weeks to check and make sure everything is okay, but in the mean time we got some nifty new pics. I have had 4 ultrasounds now and each time the tech has commented on how active this baby is inside! He never stops moving. I will soon be a busy busy woman.

Sports Themed Weekend
Lele and papa came for a visit which was so much fun! It was great to see them both and I was so appreciative for the help with Case while I went to 1,000,000 Dr appts for Capt Jack. As you can see, a grandparent never visits without bringing gifts and Case loved his new golf clubs. He even put both clubs in his crib one evening before bedtime. So cute!
Case also went bowling for the first time. He loved it. Of course he had a little help from the bumpers and daddy but overall he did a great job and ended up with an 89! Case even got a spare on the 10th frame. He didn’t understand the significance of this accomplishment but we celebrated for him.

22 weeks
22 weeks and counting and growing.
The doc gave me the all clear today. I was previously on slow down mode because of some complications I experienced earlier this week. However everything looked good at the office and tomorrow we go to the fetal heart specialist to find out more about Capt Jack’s irregular heart beat. They are looking for closed off chambers, holes in the heart, etc. Let’s just hope and pray it’s something he will outgrow (which is also an option). We will know more tomorrow.

One Thing After Another!
I want, want, want to feel good and enjoy my pregnancy, but it has been really, really, really hard. Captain Jack (that is baby #2’s nickname until we come up with his actual name) has been hard on the old body. Hyperemesis the first 10 weeks, violent virus bug and other personal health issues popping up for the past 2 months and now double infections. Plus the doc says the baby has an irregular heart beat and my placenta is low on fluids. How did women do this in the olden days? Maybe I will get to enjoy my 3rd trimester….is that even possible? Bring on the swollen feet, heartburn, and back pain any day. I just want to enjoy a few weeks of pregnancy without some possible problem creeping up. ***On a side note, Captain Jack, I’m sure I will end up telling you just how hard I worked to bring you into this world one day after you have given me some teenage grief, so be prepared to hear the story again and again! So much trouble for such a little man, but I’m sure you are worth it!

Messed Up
Acid rain, kidnapped children, mazes, zombies, running from danger super slow like you are running in water, those are just a few of the different messed up dreams I have had over the past 2 nights. Oh dreamless sleep, where are you?
