Doesn't Stand a Chance

Between me being a puke baby and Cody being sympathetic puker, Case doesn’t stand a chance for having a cast iron stomach. This morning I woke up feeling queasy and of course, of all days, the cat had been sick on the floor. Case informed me there were “ickies” on the floor and the “mess” needed to be “cleaned.” However I just couldn’t handle cleaning up cat puke at 6 am so I took a paper towel and covered it up so the sight would not disturb the OCD in my tiny mans nature and then I went to lay on the couch. However a moment or two later I heard him coughing and gaging. Apparently he had tried to pick up the mess with the paper towel and underestimated how gross puke can be. The poor guys eyes were all red, he was coughing and gagging all at the same time. Even in my own agony I couldn’t help but laugh. He seemed so close to puking that I picked him up and put him in the kitchen to avoid puke on the carpet. The entire time I was thinking to myself, oh my gosh, between cat puke, Case puke and my queasy stomach, there is no way I’m not going to make it out of this situation without hurling. He didn’t puke (thank goodness) and neither did I, but what a way to start the morning.

I Saw My Future

I saw my future yesterday at Wal-Mart. As I was walking out of the restroom I saw a woman standing outside of the men’s room holding one giggling and snickering little by the elbow. She had one boy by the elbow and was talking into the restroom to another. She was using her very best stern mommy voice and this is the conversation I overheard. “Brayden, get out of their RIGHT now.” A little excited voice answered, “No.” She then said, “If you don’t get out of their right now, I will come in and get you.” This apparently shocked the little one because he said, “You can’t come in here!” Mom said, “Oh yes I can.”

That was all I heard of the conversation. I walked away giggling to myself, because I could totally see me in that situation a few years from now as I chase around 2 boys. Oh life with boys. You will defiantly be an adventure.

28 weeks

Well I went to the Dr. again last week to check out the size of our boy. Here is what they determined. I don’t have diabetes (yea!). I have a lot, a lot of fluid which could be contributing to Capt Jack’s large size (he has too much room to grow)! His body, arms and legs are measuring about 1-1/2 weeks larger (okay, I can live with that). But they said his head is measuring at least 3 weeks larger than average (why the head)! Oh please, anything but the head!!!!!!! Despite his weird proportions the Dr says his size is still within appropriate range. So that means no TLC show yet.

Here is the latest prego pic from 28 weeks and I feel like I will split in two at moment. In other pregnant news, I have started to develop a slight waddle, bending over is no longer a pretty picture and heartburn is my companion late at night. Other than that, things are good. These last few weeks of pregnancy have been much better than the first half for sure. Thank goodness for small blessings.

I Can't Believe I Ate the Whole Thing!

Raspberries are growing on our raspberry bushes and yesterday we picked our first hearty bounty. Cody and I tried to give Case a couple ripe ones last week but he would have nothing to do with them. Apparently picking them yourselves makes raspberries taste better because as soon as we went outside with the bowl he was gobbling them up straight off the bush. Not only did he eat dozens and dozens of berries hand picked by Case, but he ate the entire bowl of raspberries I picked as well. Now that’s a lot of berries. Can’t say I blame him, I snuck a berry or two while he was chewing and they were delic.

Who Will You Become

Every day Capt Jack becomes more and more real to me. Whereas before I had a general image of a baby coming into our lives, now Capt Jack is becoming more and more an actual “baby.” I don’t know if that makes sense, but it makes sense to me. I am starting to see myself in his room holding him at night. And I can almost see him and Case together in the same room. He is already a part of our daily routine in my mind.

With that being said, as I see Case’s personality developing more and more each day I have I begun to wonder who this new child will become? Will he be a quiet, polite, observer like Case? Or will he be my outgoing, rambunctious, wild child? Will he be a picky eater like Case? Or will he be the baby to devour everything on his plate and mine? Will he sleep well (please God, give me one child who is a good sleeper)? Or will he be a restless snoozer like Case? Will he love pets, cars and being outside? Or will he have different interests. Who will you be Capt Jack? Whoever you will become, I’m excited to find out.

Life is Good

I am feeling pretty good today. Cody has been gone a lot lately which typically puts me in a down down mood, but Case and I have really been having a nice time together. Our mornings are spent outside playing in the play house, throwing rocks in our make shift water table, learning how to teeter totter, mowing, playing basketball, sliding, picking flowers, blowing bubbles and shoo’ing the dogs away. The afternoons we have been getting a lot of cloud coverage so that makes our walks to the park perfect for Case to inspect every rock, say hello and goodbye to every bug, pick up pine cones and run besides the stroller without melting into the cement. I was worried that my mission to cut back on snacks and tv would result in a terrible time for everyone however we have actually been doing well. Plus, I am so thankful that Hot wheels are only .89 cents which makes our weekly purchase of a car or two a guilt free treat (especially since we misplace them as quickly as we buy them). The days have been nice and I have been enjoying these last few months with Case alone before we add Capt Jack to the mix. Life is good. Life is good indeed. And I am one lucky lady.

Typically we don't play in our pjs outside, but this morning Capt Jack was causing mom to have some problems so we went really lazy this day.

Case has a baby farmer tan! I love it.

It can get pretty croweded when all the dogs and Case are in the house together!

Uncle Wilbur

Case and I visited a farmers market last week. The farmers market is conveniently located right next to a dancing water fountain which is normally swarming with kids. We have stopped and watched the kids play before but Case has never wanted to join in. The fountain wasn’t turned on when we went to the market so I thought it would be a good time for Case to check out the area and talk about how the fountain worked. After we were done inspecting the fountain we started to walk into the market. At the entrance we had to pass by several homeless people and one man was particularly chatty. He was talking at Case and saying, ‘So you’ve come to see Uncle Wilbur, eh? Have you ever seen Uncle Wilbur before? Uncle Wilbur loves kids!”

The smart child I have, did not want to pass by the homeless people so I picked him up and made a b-line to the market. On our way out we had to pass by the homeless brood and again this man started calling out to Case, “Come back and see Uncle Wilbur! Uncle Wilbur loves kids. Uncle Wilbur will be here all day!”

Now honestly, tell me what you would be thinking? Here were my thoughts, nasty, dirty, pervy homeless man stop talking to my child!!!!!! On my way to the car I saw a sign, Uncle Wilbur Fountain Hours of Operation……. The fountain was called Uncle Wilbur!

Maybe I judged too quickly, but I still think that homeless man was creepy.

4th Fun!

We had a nice time at a friend’s house over the 4th. Case didn't make it to firework time darkthirty, but he did hang out and play hard for several hours. Cody and I ended up running off and forgetting our bag of kiddy friendly fireworks so we get to have a 4th of July part 2 sometime in the future. Case did manage snap some pops and watch a couple smoke bombs go off. Case spent the rest of the afternoon either in the playhouse, petting the barn cat, running fast and or checking out the horses.

Case was excited about stepping on the snaps and clapped every time one went off.

Enjoying some watermelon for dessert.

E I E I O

It has been decided. Capt Jack will have a farm animal themed room. The bedding came last week and it is all I can do to keep from buying everything else we need all at once! The bedding has cute cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, horses and birds on it to keep our little one company in bed. And the brown, khaki and light green colors will be very baby and boy all at the same time. Now if we just had a crib or furniture things might come together. Patience mama, patience. The urge to nest is getting intense.

Soft Serve

I have discovered ice cream.....and I LOVE it!

P.S. The .25 kiddie cones at McDonalds are great for kids and grown up alike! Best quarter I ever spent.
