Pre Easter Fun 2011

Meeting the Easter Bunny's wife. She was giving Case "bunny" ears. Ha-ha, what a funny bunny.

Waiting in the cold for the hunt to begin.

Cole is too young to hunt for eggs this year, but he is not too young to have fun waiting for the race to begin.

Strategizing on the best way to maximize the egg search.

Eggs were everywhere!

Ready, set, go!

Woot, woot! More eggs.

2 dozen eggs later we were warming up inside the rec center surveying the loot.

Later in the day we dyed eggs.

Maybe we should have used the little egg dipper instead of our hands. Oh well, fun was had and that is all that matters.

On Your Mark

Today was Case's first community Easter Egg Hunt. The excitement and anticipation was so amped up no one even minded the chilly 30 (+) degrees with snow flurries outside. Case collected over 2 dozen eggs with candy! This was great considering the decks were stacked against him because we ended up missing his age bracket. He hunted with the 3-6 year olds and believe me, these kids were seasoned egg searchers. Once the flag had been dropped it was fun to watch all the kids scatter everywhere. Here is clip from the beginning of the hunt. As you can see the excitement temporarily blinded Case from the most obvious eggs, but overall he held his own. I think he enjoyed himself because after all the fun was over he said, "this was the best party ever!"

6 Months Old

Cole is 6 months old and becoming a charmer. He loves to smile and will smile, smile, smile at anyone sneaking a peek. He especially likes to smile at a pretty lady if they are willing to look his way. Although he loves the ladies, Cole is equally fascinated with Cody. I don’t remember Case being as mesmerized with Cody as Cole is at this age. Cole watches Cody everywhere he goes and always smiles when Cody says, blah.

Both of my boys love to be tickled, but Cole is so funny because he tries very hard not to laugh. Cody will tickle his sides and Cole will smile the whole time as he tenses up his body, holds his breath and turns red in the face before he lets out a tiny grunt acknowledging the torture.

Now that Cole is getting a bit older his tiny personality is starting to show through and it seems night and day different from Case. Cole is my cuddler. He loves to be held and would be quite content if someone held him, whispered sweet nothing in his ear and kissed his face all day long. In fact, I call Cole my little monkey baby because he loves to be held so much and his favorite perch is on your hip with his little legs wrapped around your waist and hands grabbing on to anything he can reach (hair, shirt etc.). Speaking of grabbing, Cole is a grabber. He will grab hair, earrings, necklaces, clothes and hold on tight. I never watched my jewelry before, but you can bet your bottom dollar mama makes sure this little one doesn’t grab an earring while I’m not looking. Ouch!

When Cole is not being carried and cuddled during the day he is busy becoming more and more mobile. For example, Cole has figured out how to master rolling to get to a location which is a big accomplishment. Rolling is okay, but his little legs want to crawl so bad (he kicks both little feet fast and furious while on his tummy) but he just hasn't figured out how to put everything together to create movement. His little legs have always been strong and he still loves to stand with assistance whenever he gets a chance. Plus, Cole is starting to truly enjoy his bouncy chair and is even long enough in length to touch the ground without books!

Now that he is a big boy, Cole will hold his own bottle and gets super excited when he sees a bottle being prepared. Yum, yum, yum. Cole is my good eater. Cole will also reach out for me when he wants to be held (insert melting heart sound effects here). Comparatively speaking, Cole is still the quiet one. He is very intent but likes to watch the excitement from mama’s lap. However when Cole has the chance to grab center stage, he can be quite the chatter box.

Brotherly Love

Case is such a good big brother. The other day when I was getting ready to vacuum the floor I was preparing Cole for the loud noise. I said, “Cole, I’m gonna vacuum you up. Are you ready? On the count of three I am going to turn on the vacuum. One, two…” Before I reached three, Case jumped off the couch where he was safely perched with all his toys ran across the room and jumped up on the chair where Cole was sitting. He flung his little body over Coles and said, “Don’t vacuum up my baby Cole!” In Case's little mind he saved Cole's life! I couldn’t have been more proud of what a wonderful big brother he is to Cole.

The brotherly love is equally reciprocated. Cole may only be 6 months old, but it is already evident that he loves his brother. For starters, no one can get Cole laughing quicker than big brother Case. All Case has to do is make a noise, jump up in the air or throw a ball and Cole is laughing so hard it makes everyone else around him laugh at his joy. As much as they like to have fun together, they boys already enjoy getting in trouble together as well. As I said earlier, Case loves to make Cole laugh and goes to extreme measures to give joy to his little brother. However sometimes the fun is just 'too much' and Case crosses the line. When I tell Case not to throw things over baby Cole’s head or splash so high in the bath tub or jump over baby Coles body, Case looks at me and says, ‘But mom, baby Cole is laughting. He likes it!’ I hope they don't kill each other as they play growing up and I hope they are friends for life.

G-ma and P-pa

The whole family has really been enjoying spending time with G-ma and P-pa while they are visiting. They come over and babysit almost every day while mommy goes to work.

P-pa takes Case to the park.

G-ma feeds Cole his bottles.

Today we had a fun time today going to Lowes and building our first pinball project. Way to go Case! You did a great job!

Freakin Adorable

Nuff said.

Aunt Shanny This Is For You

Moment of Panic

Last night around 11ish I was in the shower with soap in my hair and guess what….the fire alarm started going off! I’m not talking beep beep going off. I’m talking full blown going off! Can anyone say, moment of panic? Of course Cody is out of town and I’d be lying if I didn’t say my first thought was ‘I’m going to have to go outside with 2 children in a towel!’ I jumped out of the shower, suds and all, and searched for any sign of fire in the house. When I found no sign of fire I began tackling the task of getting the alarm off. I totally understand why people bash those things with a broom handle to get them to stop beeping, because the noise was deafening! Finally turned the alarm off but the uneasy feeling stayed with me. Whew, what a night. P.S. About 1 hour later, I finally was able to finish my shower.
