Family Outing

Yesterday we went to the zoo together for the first time as a family! Cody gave me zoo passes for Mothers day but we were all sick that weekend so yesterday was our first opportunity to try em out. Of course we had a great time. The giraffes are always the highlight.

Typically they sell giraffe crackers for the kids to feed the animals with however yesterday we were able to purchase lettuce instead. Case has come a long way from being afraid of the giraffes to feeding the big guys with double fists. No fears here! Look at me two at a time!

This was Cole’s first zoo adventure and he handled himself very well. Cody thought I was mean for wanting to put a piece of lettuce on Cole’s head in order to get shot of a giraffe licking his little noggin, but I thought the picture would have been a hoot. Turns out we got a giraffe tongue shot without the lettuce prop. :)

Nom, Nom, Nom

Who doesn't like a cheese puff? Plus they are great for teething. A little messy, but delic nonetheless. Nom, nom, nom. More cheese puffs please!

Naughty with a Capital N

Case exerted his independence today at Wal-Mart. We were at the checkout line and Case decided to switch out his purchase last minute. I did not approve the switch. A major melt down ensued. He was screaming and crying. He was kicking and running away when I tried and tried and tried to put him in a time out. Finally I put him in the cart and started out for the car. Still screaming he tried to leap out of the cart and fell head first in the parking lot. Miraculously, even though he went head first, his head actually didn’t hit the ground. However a swarm of people who witnessed the tumble rushed to our cart to assist. The scene of people kind of distracted him and he was attempting to calm down by breathing deeply and then…. the icing on the cake, he puked all over himself and me while I held him. Such a sweetie 99% of the time. I guess he had an off day, but whew, what an off day! Lordy, lordy. Someone needs a nap.

6 Months Already

Cole is 6 (+) months old! He is 25 inches long and weighs 13lbs. Cole is a wiggly little thing. I never leave him unattended in his bumbo even for a second because I am always afraid he is going to ya-hoo out of the seat. Cole loves to pull hair and I have to watch my locks at all times or else I will get a good strong tug when I least expect it. Cole loves graham crackers and is starting to eat some people food. Cole still wakes up several times a night but he sleeps in his own bed by himself which is a big accomplishment when compared to Case at this age. Cole doesn’t have any teeth yet, but he is currently working on getting some chompers. I like to call Cole my little Zombie baby because when his teeth are bothering him and you pick him up he goes for the neck. Cole will shake his little head like a dog and try to bit your face, arm, neck or whatever body part is closest. Ahhhhh, zombie baby! Cole is currently working on crawling. Right now Cole is very good at rolling from location to location but he hasn’t been able to project himself forward on his hands and knees just yet. I am sure he will be in motion within the next month as hard as he is working on mastering his craft. Cole is also now a newly independent sitter. He is able to sit up all by himself. Such a big boy.

Of course, sometimes sitting proves to be a bit taxing and then down we go.

Overall, Cole is healthy and a happy baby and I love him so much.

Taking Flight

Yesterday the weather was a bit breezy so we decided to try out the kite for the first time.

Case was literally jumping for joy once the bird was in the air.

The majestic bird takes flight. We are up!

And then we are down. Spoken like a true boy, Case kept saying, "I can't wait for it to crash again!"

Up again. And this time Case got a chance to take the reigns for a moment or two.

Cole was a tad harder to impress. Luckily sticks are always a success.

The day was beautiful. The weather was perfect. We took a walk around the neighborhood, played in the new play house, had a picnic lunch at the picnic table and flew a kite together as a family.

Eat Your Veggies

I firmly believe that one of the reasons Case is a picky eater is because we traumatized him early on with the most nasty veggies on the market in canned baby food, peas. Therefore I decided to do things differently with Cole. Fruit, fruit, fruit. He has sampled, bananas, pears, peaches and applesauce. Well the other day we asked Case what we should give Cole to eat: carrots, bananas, sweet potatoes or applesauce. Case said carrots. Everyone in the room grimaced at the same time. Carrots would not have been our first pick however we went with Cases choice. Surprisingly, Cole LOVED them! I guess big brother knows best and once again my theory that Cole will be my good eater is again confirmed. Here is a pic of Cole totally enjoying his veggies.

Here is a flash back to the "pea incident" with Case.

Easter 2011

Our happy family on Easter 2011!

Easter morning we woke up to the weather below.

Good thing the Easter bunny makes house visits. Despite the weather the Easter bunny still delivered some eggs and baskets during nap time.

Thank you Nana! Your special basket was filled with all sorts of delicious candy. A trip to the dentist is next after all this deliciousness.

Sampling some of the goods. Yumm, kit kats.

Daddy being silly in bunny ears.

The bubble gun and umbrella were sucesses as well.

We looked over and Cole had rolled over to a basket and decided to open it up by himself.

The boys were adorable and Easter was tons of fun. I can't wait for many more Easters to come with my lovely family.
