A typical pregnant woman
I don’t know when it happened, but it happened. All the sudden I am a typical pregnant woman. It happened over night. Here is what I mean.
Suddenly I can’t bend at the waist to pick things up. Rather I squat (very unladylike I might add) typically followed by a grunt when bending over.
My back hurts. I have never had a sore back in my life and now I have a persistent undercurrent of pain present throughout the day. That means, more and more often you can find me striking a pregnancy pose. You know, the one where you see a pregnant person with their hand on their waist, arching backwards in a desperate effort to stretch some of the soreness out (usually with no luck). Also, I find myself sitting, standing, talking, whatever with my hand on my stomach. I never used to touch my stomach, now I do it without even realizing.
My body has turned into an oven. It’s a strange sensation feeling hot all the time since I am typically cold natured. Every time I move into a room, I’m constantly turning on fans or talking about how hot it is. Cody doesn’t know what to do with this new phenomenon because usually it’s him who is fighting to lower the temp.
Last week I lost my mind. I missed a court date, was an hour late to an appointment, I cant seem to concentrate on anything and I locked my keys in the car. Plus I wore my first pair of maternity pants all day yesterday. Previously all my maternity pants were too big, but now they are starting to fit and let me tell you, they felt good to wear.
Finally I have had more comments in the past week on how pregnant I look than all 6 months prior. My favorite comment was at court. I was wearing a more fitted shirt that showed off my belly and someone came up to me and said, “I didn’t know you were THAT pregnant.” Thanks, I think….?
So every day that passes things become more and more real. Our little boy is still as active as ever as he moves around tirelessly in my belly for hours on end. I am expanding rapidly. And no matter how many times I check the calendar, time stands still and my due date is still months away. Oh September. Sweet, sweet September. Can’t you come a little sooner this year?

The baby is kicking
The baby is kicking. He kicks all the time. I can sit and watch his kicks and punches move across my stomach as he does his little exercises in by belly. He is already on a schedule. I feel him kick the most in the evening from 5-7 pm, then again around 10-11pm. He always moves around for a minute or two after I eat (which is all the time). And sometimes he wakes me up with his little powerhouse kicks. Yikes! If he is already waking me up, I cant wait to see what things will be like as he gets bigger and stronger. The other day I was supposed to go out and do something, but the baby was just being so active I couldn’t help myself. I canceled my appointment and sat on the couch with my shirt propped up watching my little bump move all around. The whole thing is pretty amazing.
The other day I went baby shopping for the first time. I started off with a lot of steam and quickly teetered out. As I walked up and down the aisles I became overwhelmed. There is soooo much stuff out there! How the heck do I know what a baby needs? I don’t know how many onsies a baby should have or what kind of booger picker is the best. I don’t know which bath time cradles will grow with my baby or what kind of diapering essentials a person needs! Ahhhhh! I ended up spending $200 on me instead. I may not know what a baby needs, but I know what ‘me’ needs. Needless to say any suggestions you have on a ‘to buy for baby’ list is welcome.
Since I need help, I brainstormed solutions. On a side note. We are having a baby shower in Oklahoma Saturday June 14th. The date was just solidified so be expecting your invitations in the mail in the next couple weeks. Back to my solution, I have decided to bring a lump sum of moola with me to the baby shower and all my friends who want to shop with me after the shower can go and pick out everything I need to properly care and maintain a baby for the first few months. They can pick it out. Whatever they say I need, I will pay for it. Anyone who has experience in this area, please, pleeeeaaasee put this on your calendars and plan to attend the shopping spree afterwards. I need all the help I can get!

Breaking all the Molds
We are breaking all the molds and having a boy! The doctor said he was loud and proud about his manhood as she got a picture perfect shot of him mooning the camera, butt cheeks shining and Mr Winky hanging down for all to see. We don't have a name yet, but are both soooo excited. A boy! We are having a boy!

Al Bundy
My new favorite hobby is sitting around with my hands on my stomach trying to feel the baby move. Cody thinks I look like Al Bundy watching tv with my hands under my shirt or in my pants all the time, but I just cant help it. The movements are like someone is touching the inside of my belly as softly as they can with the end of a pencil. Every little kick reaffirms our baby is healthy, happy and making itself home in my belly. Cody can’t feel the small, tiny, jabs yet, but he asks about the kicks on a daily basis. Have you felt the baby kick today? He is a big tough man, but I know it will be a good day the time first time he feels the baby kick him in the hand.

Tough Week
It’s been a really tough week. Ever since Friday I have been violently puking my cookies all day, every day. I’m not talking morning sickness puke. I’m talking exorcist puke. I know your stomach and uterus are not connected, but I swear I puked out a fallopian tube yesterday. Plus, Cody is no help because the bloke is a sympathetic puker. That means whenever I run for the toilet, he cranks up the tv. Can I blame him? No. After all, who wants to listen to puking. But ask me if this stops me from cussing him while hanging on to the toilet?
The whole ordeal has left me exhausted, in terrible spirits and hungry. The doctors have tried to give me medicine but nothing seems to help. I’m going to the OBGYN tomorrow to make sure the baby is still fine and healthy despite my near death experiences. Every now and then I can feel the baby kicking. Despite that bit of joy I don’t think I will be able to breath easy until I hear the heart beating.
