A typical pregnant woman

I don’t know when it happened, but it happened. All the sudden I am a typical pregnant woman. It happened over night. Here is what I mean.

Suddenly I can’t bend at the waist to pick things up. Rather I squat (very unladylike I might add) typically followed by a grunt when bending over.

My back hurts. I have never had a sore back in my life and now I have a persistent undercurrent of pain present throughout the day. That means, more and more often you can find me striking a pregnancy pose. You know, the one where you see a pregnant person with their hand on their waist, arching backwards in a desperate effort to stretch some of the soreness out (usually with no luck). Also, I find myself sitting, standing, talking, whatever with my hand on my stomach. I never used to touch my stomach, now I do it without even realizing.

My body has turned into an oven. It’s a strange sensation feeling hot all the time since I am typically cold natured. Every time I move into a room, I’m constantly turning on fans or talking about how hot it is. Cody doesn’t know what to do with this new phenomenon because usually it’s him who is fighting to lower the temp.

Last week I lost my mind. I missed a court date, was an hour late to an appointment, I cant seem to concentrate on anything and I locked my keys in the car. Plus I wore my first pair of maternity pants all day yesterday. Previously all my maternity pants were too big, but now they are starting to fit and let me tell you, they felt good to wear.

Finally I have had more comments in the past week on how pregnant I look than all 6 months prior. My favorite comment was at court. I was wearing a more fitted shirt that showed off my belly and someone came up to me and said, “I didn’t know you were THAT pregnant.” Thanks, I think….?

So every day that passes things become more and more real. Our little boy is still as active as ever as he moves around tirelessly in my belly for hours on end. I am expanding rapidly. And no matter how many times I check the calendar, time stands still and my due date is still months away. Oh September. Sweet, sweet September. Can’t you come a little sooner this year?

He he he, it definitely happens overnight! It will all be over before you know it! Be glad you live in Colorado and not Oklahoma during the summer or you really would be an oven!

Girlfriend. I call it baby brain. I had comments that I can remember things 10 years ago, but not 10 minutes ago. It just gets worse. I have gotten to where i have to tell Adam things so that he can remember for me. FUn huh. I am know how you feel. Everyday gets closer to D day, yet it still seems like forever away. Ahh the curse of prenancy. Ain't it grand. Fat, no brain, pain, and time seems to stop. :)
