We are in the process of remodeling all the downstairs floors of our house. 15 year old Vinyl is coming out and beautiful 18x18 tile is being put down. White carpet equal in age will be removed and replaced with hardwood as well. The result will be spectacular, but leading up to the change has been no picnic. Originally the transformation was supposed to take place in 1 week. Our plan was to get away for a mini family hotel vacation while everything touching the ground was picked up, moved and magically transformed in to beauty. However one glitch turned into several glitches and now the entire procedure is taking place over a MONTH! Ahhhhh! Our house has been in mild disorder for the past 3 weeks, chaos for the past week and a half, mayhem for the past 4 days and I am still waiting on the utter pandemonium to begin. I have managed to keep the big picture in sight (pretty new floors, pretty new floors). But yesterday was the first day it really got under my skin. I was okay having 40 boxes of wood lining the perimeter of my dining room with the table shoved over to one side for weeks while it “acclimated to our house”. I let things roll off my back when we had the washer and dryer in the middle of the kitchen. I have managed to keep it together the past 4 days while the refrigerator is in the hallway, stove in the dining room and the microwave and crock pot now reside in the front room. The bathroom has been turned into pantry with food stacked all over the washer and dryer and the laundry baskets are full of cups, plates and bottles. And don’t get me started on the dust, dirt and grime! Come on really! Let the torture end. I just want 1 room undisturbed. Until then my mantra which now only works part of the time is: pretty new floors, pretty new floors. June can’t come soon enough.
Is that a refridgerator in your entry way? Why yes it is.
This is our new pantry. It also doubles as a shoe rack and backpack holder. Multi purpose!
My new counter space is also very versitle. I can easily start laundry and make sandwiches with out moving one inch. Maybe we will keep the arrangment this way...maybe not.
If the oven was actually in working condition in the dining room I would say this switch is genius. Who needs hot plates when you can just pull dinner straight out of the oven and place it on to the table while sitting in your dining room chair?
I'm not sure we could add one more piece of flooring into the
mix. Right now we have hardwood, ceramic tile, carpet, vinyl and concrete board
all touching. I would say our current decorating style is eclectic bohemian gypsy.
