Potty Mouth

Today while the family was shopping Case was running around yelling what we later determined to be ‘your bridge.’ However the phrase was not enunciated properly through his 2 year old vocabulary. I will let you decipher what embarrassing word that starts with a B his ‘bridge’ sounded like. I was concentrating on shopping and didn’t even notice his shenanigans until one of the check out people gasped after Case said ‘your bridge’ again. I’m amazed at how quickly my defenses went up and went up on so many different levels. I immediately looked at her and said with an emphatic ‘No. That is not what he is saying.’ My first defensive reflex was about my marriage. Kids learn things from example and my husband would never say anything like that to me especially in front of the children. Second, I was defensive of my parenting. I am a good parent and would never allow my son to listen to talk like that in any venue. Embarrassed, I left the store is such disarray I forgot my purchase and had to go back in a second time. Once I was out of the store I couldn’t stop laughing. Kids do say the darndest thing. I am sure this is payback from my childhood because some of my mothers favorite stories of little Holly include me in public places shouting 4 letter words. Another phrase Case has recently been saying which makes me laugh each time is ‘frustration.’ Whenever he gets told no or is unable to do something without help he hangs his head down and says in a low voice, ‘frus-tration.’ I don’t know where he got it from but it’s hilarious. So my question to you is, what embarrassing things have your kids said in public? In other dirty fun, Case has been enjoying finger painting. Note to self, don't wipe you nose while finger painting. Ahhhh! That is one crazy psychedelic booger!

Nom, Nom, Nom

Cole tried rice cereal for the first time this past week. Cole has been waiting for this moment for weeks now. He eyes our plates and food like a starving child on the streets every night at dinner. Cole was so ready for solid food that the other night he took matters into his own hands and the little thief nabbed some mashed potatoes off my plate while sitting on my lap. Before Cody and I knew what was happening Cole was covered in gravy and we were on the floor laughing. Needless to say, I am glad we were finally able to provide my hungry man with some more sustenance. As you can see he was excited to get his grub on.

He doesn't look thrilled in the pictures but he actually enjoyed eating. Cole would open his little mouth everytime the spoon came near. Nom, nom, nom. More please!

Open wide! Here comes another bite.

With some baby food finally in his tummy Cole is strong enough for big time play and tons of cuteness as evidneced by the photo below. What a handsome gent.

4 Month Check Up

Cole had his 4 month check up this past week and he was given the ‘fabulous’ stamp of approval. Cole is 24” long and in the 25-50% for height (say whaaa?). He weighed 11.3 lbs and is in the 3rd% for weight. Cole is laughing, rolling, reaching for things and he has discovered his feet which now makes changing his diaper considerably more challenging. Cole loves watching Case play and nothing will get him giggling faster than his brother. It’s so sweet to see them together. Cole was also given the okay to start sampling some rice cereal. This is very good news because I believe that boy is ready to eat with the family. Whenever we eat dinner Cole suddenly turns into a little shark. He bites at the air, shakes his head and refuses his paci. Overall he is just another amazing little boy that rocks my world and can bring me to tears just by thinking about how much I love him.

Is It Wrong?

Is it wrong that tonight when my 2 year old asked to be a princess I obliged in a game of dress up? This is our homage to Mrs. Roper.

Sports Fan

Cole is already a sports fan. Look at how he loves watching Cody throw the ball. Baby giggles are the greatest.

Finally

The weather finally warmed up long enough to actually go outside and play. Daddy watched Cole while Case and I had some one-on-one time at the park. Playing at the park was great but another added bonus are the conversations we have about the world on our walk. As we were walking, he pointed out various paths we could take. He talked about how the water in the road was melted snow. He knew the park was straight ahead. He also thought a large large water puddle we walked by was 'the ocean' and was very upset when a car drove through the ocean, but hey, he is two. We had a fun time running, goofing off and playing in the snow. What a great day!


I only had to rescue him once from the snow drifts.

Yesterday was my birthday and even though my husband was away on business and my family was in Oklahoma I felt just as special as if there had been a big party in my honor because of my wonderful friends. Look what showed up at my door late last night from my bestie Susan. I'm a lucky lady to have such amazing friends!
